Majid Adin
Iranian artist, illustrator & animator
Majid Adin, an Iranian artist and animator, fled political persecution in 2015, enduring a harrowing journey through the Calais Jungle before reaching the UK. His experiences inspired the graphic novel Hamid and Shakespeare, a magical tale of a refugee's friendship with the Bard.
Majid gained international acclaim by animating Elton John’s Rocket Man, drawing from his journey as a refugee. He has created over 18 short animations, collaborating with luminaries like Ai Weiwei and Neil Gaiman, and showcasing his work at prestigious venues, including the Venice Biennale.
Through his art, Majid shares stories of resilience, amplifying the voices of refugees and inspiring empathy worldwide.

Iryna Tyschenko
Ukrainian artist, illustrator & stage designer
Irina Tishchenko, a Ukrainian artist from Kharkiv, began her creative journey as a theater decorator, working at the A.S. Pushkin Drama Theater and later the Kharkiv National Opera and Ballet Theater, where she designed stage sets for over 30 years. Her work has been featured in productions across Europe, Japan, and China.
Irina also taught art to children at Kharkiv’s Artera Studio and illustrated children’s books for local publishers. In 2022, after fleeing the war in Ukraine, she relocated to Aarau, Switzerland, where she founded an art group for Ukrainian refugees.
Through her volunteer work, Irina uses art to help people find solace, express themselves, and rebuild a sense of community amid difficult times.
